In the watchtower magazine for June 1, 2012, Jehovah’s Witnesses have a great opportunity to prove what makes the bible unique. Their five weak arguments are prophecy, historical accuracy, accurate science, it being a harmonious library, and it’s practicality for today’s lifestyles. So I made it through the first two argument which sounded like a child was trying to win me over and I then read their scientific accuracy page. I thought they would try and use their best arguments especially when they are using one example per argument as they were doing here. But not even close. They come up with reasoning that even cats and dogs are born with. They used the fact that mosaic laws required Israelites to take shits outside of the city and to cover it up. And I used to think it was just common sense. Were the people back then so dumb they needed a law to tell them to do what my 3 month old puppy already knows to do?
Apparently lepers were quite common back then as well and science instead of finding a cure, God told them the best thing to do was to kick to sick person out of town instead of finding ways to cure these poor victims.
Come on Jehovahs Witnesses, please, instead of talking about a load of crap, use some stuff that I actually need to use my brain to debunk.
This is regarding my previous post regarding slavery. Note how I took a screenshot of the scriptures before and after exodus 20:21. This does NOT demonstrate intelligence nor wisdom to me. Would you kill your child just for being disobedient? If everyone would have gone through with this law, humans would have ceased to exist a long, long time ago.
This excerpt came from the July 2011 awake mag page 28. It’s about slavery and how god did allow it but was good towards those who were enslaved. Take note of the exodus 21:20 scripture there, on the fourth chapter.
Jehovah’s Witnesses, for instance, haven’t established a university. They don’t sponsor a law school or offer graduate-level courses in world religions. The same goes for Christian Science. If you want to call those groups cults I will not argue with you. But Brigham Young University is a world-class educational institution, with professors who’ve earned doctorates from some of the best universities in the world. Several of the top leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have PhDs from Ivy League schools.
HA HA HA. Walter Martin, author of Kingdom of the Cults, must be spinning in his grave right now. Since when have christians determined what is a cult by how many colleges or PHDs does the cult/religion have?
The new found love between evangelicals are Mormonism is just one of political expediency. Since Jehovah Witnesses and Christian Science do not promote the fundamentalist evangelical political mantras, if any at all, they can be easily labeled as cults.
*** g90 2/8 p. 11 What Happened to the Dinosaurs? *** The Genesis Account and Dinosaurs While the radioactive dating method is innovative, it is still based on speculation and assumption. In contrast, the Bible account in the first chapter of Genesis simply states the general order of creation. It allows for possibly thousands of millions of years for the formation of the earth and many millenniums in six creative eras, or “days,” to prepare the earth for human habitation. Some dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) may indeed have been created in the fifth era listed in Genesis, when the Bible says that God made “flying creatures” and “great sea monsters.” Perhaps other types of dinosaurs were created in the sixth epoch. The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time.—Genesis 1:20-24. When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose, God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when. We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time. They were no mistake, no product of evolution. That they suddenly appear in the fossil record unconnected to any fossil ancestors, and also disappear without leaving connecting fossil links, is evidence against the view that such animals gradually evolved over millions of years of time. Thus, the fossil record does not support the evolution theory. Instead, it harmonizes with the Bible’s view of creative acts of God.
